Nicolas has over three decades of experience in trade finance. He started his career at Credit Suisse, Zurich before joining Citi, London covering EMEA structured trade finance. Nicolas has worked for Citi and Stanbic in Dakar and Kinshasa respectively before joining Barclays Private Bank, Geneva. Nicolas holds an MBA from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and has served as a Magistrate in Switzerland for many years.
Ed brings over fifteen years of experience in the hedge fund industry. As COO he oversees all aspects of Scipion's business outside of the portfolio management,including developing and implementing internal policies, producers and internal controls and managing the firm’s service providers. Prior to joining Scipion he was at IMM Group, a Dubai based Investment Manager, where he setup and managed a GCC hedge fund. He was a Partner at MENA Capital Ltd, a UK based hedge fund, Balfour Capital, Aviva Asset Management, Bank of New York and Bear Stearns. Ed has a Masters in Finance from the London Business School and is a MFTA (Master Financial Technical Analyst).
Paul is Head of Trade Finance and has responsibility for all of Scipion Capital’s trade functions. With more than 30 years of experience in trade finance, he has focused on financing commodity traders and producers identifying, structuring and closing trade facilities that meet client requirements. Prior to joining Paul was at SMBC Europe Ltd where he was Assistant General Manager in the Structured Trade and Commodity Finance Department.
Chris has more than 40 yrs experience of working in Africa and specifically in the credit space with a focus on trade finance, mining, shipping and logistics. His role at Scipion is to oversight and review all credit applications to the Investment Committee. Prior to joining Scipion he spent 27 years at Citibank before taking up a post at Credit Suisse in Geneva, Switzerland. Chris holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, a BA in International Relations from Washington College.
Stephen has forty years of Trade Finance experience and in the course of his extensive career has financed trades in over 100 countries. He has spent his career at leading International Banks in London before joining Scipion in 2013. Stephen has received many awards during his extensive career and is recognised as one of the industries innovators.
Pepi brings 20 years of global experience on structuring CTF opportunities across the commodity spectrum. Prior to joining Scipion Capital Pepi was Head of Structred Finance and Commodity Finance at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp where he focused on origination and structuring of loan facilities for leading companies and traders in key emerging markets. Pepi graduated with a degree in Pharmacology from Manchester University.
Pierre assists the trade desk in arranging new transactions and focuses on researching commodity markets and macroeconomic developments in Africa. He has a Degree in Financial Engineering, an MSc.in Actuarial Sciences and Finance from the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne and an MSc. in Metals and Energy Finance from Imperial College London.
Fred works along side the senior investment team as an investment analyst and does specialist project research. His studies required him to spend time in Zambia and Ireland working at Copper and Lead Zinc Mines before graduating in 2015 with an Msci Geology from Imperial College.
