African open borders = goods still moving…

The Economist this week highlighted the fact that goods are still moving in Africa, rightly pointing out that keeping borders open is vital to ensuring food security on the continent.

Many point to the last food crisis on 2007-08 but world food systems today are “in a very different situation” with many fewer export restrictions and low oil prices.

In Zambia for example, Scipion’s borrowers will benefit from what is promising to be a bumper maize harvest, buoyant local and foreign demand, and borders with neighbours that continue to remain open. #africa #tradefinance #africanfinance #covid19 #covid19africa
